Haddon Township, where Community Thrives!

Modern Haddon Township emerged from Quaker roots that date back to the 1680s. Originally named Newton Township, the municipality was incorporated as the Township of Haddon in 1865. The township's current boundaries developed with the formation of neighboring towns. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the previously agrarian Haddon Township shifted dramatically with the introduction of railroad and highway systems, evolving into a suburban community proud of its excellent schools and its recreational, athletic, and entertainment facilities.

Haddon Township's motto is “Where Community Thrives”. The heart of the business district runs along Haddon Avenue which features all sorts of dining and shopping options. Community events include a Halloween parade, an annual block party and the Crystal Lake Pool complex,  The Westmont Farmers Market is open every Wednesday, from May through October! This seasonal mid-week market offers fresh, locally grown produce, meats, cheeses, bedding plants, fresh cut flowers and prepared foods directly to Haddon Township residents and the surrounding community.

The Haddon Township School District serves public school students in pre-Kindergarten through high school. There are five elementary schools which consist of Thomas A. Edison Elementary School (grades PreK-5), Clyde S. Jennings Elementary School (K-5), Stoy Elementary School (PreK-5), Strawbridge Elementary School (K-5), Van Sciver Elementary School (PreK-5.) There is one middle school for the town, William G. Rohrer Middle School (6-8) and Haddon Township High School (9-12). Paul VI High School is a private Catholic high school which operates under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden.
